Our approach

Gordon Rush wants everyone to be able to browse, choose and buy from this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, captions or other assistive technology. We design and test this website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

What we do

  • A "Skip to content" link, a logical heading structure and labeled page regions on every page.
  • Every control works from the keyboard and shows a visible focus outline.
  • Text alternatives for product photographs; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Text and controls meet WCAG AA color-contrast ratios in both the Light and Dark appearance.
  • Labeled form fields with clear error messages.
  • Background video has no sound, does not flash, and can be paused. Motion is reduced automatically when your device asks for reduced motion. The moving world clock at the top of the page can be paused, and it stops whenever you hover over it or move keyboard focus into it.
  • No music or sound plays on this site.
  • Pages reflow on small screens and support browser zoom up to 200%.
  • We check the site with automated tools (axe-core) and by hand with the keyboard whenever we change the design, and at least once a quarter.

Compatibility

The site is built to work with current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, and with the VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS and TalkBack screen readers.

Known limitations

Some parts of the site are provided by third parties, including checkout, payment buttons, customer account sign-in and review content. We choose vendors that support accessibility, but we do not control their code. If any part of the site gets in your way, please tell us and we will help you complete your purchase another way.
