Your wardrobe isn’t the only thing that needs sprucing up in the midst of a season change – your drink of choice can also be reconsidered. Cocktail menus everywhere are undergoing the annual routine of moving away from light, citrusy flavors and closer towards the dark, savory tastes of fall. For us at Gordon Rush, there is one drink that has us feeling exactly right as we transition into the autumn season.
NEW YORK SOUR
A bold twist on an age old classic, the New York Sour will be our go-to mixed beverage in the early fall months. The New York Sour features a splash of red wine which adds a depth of flavor to the infallible classic, the Whiskey Sour. If you haven’t yet tried this tasty drink, check out the ingredients and instructions below.
2 oz. Rye whiskey or bourbon
1 oz. Lemon juice
.75 oz. Simple syrup
.5 oz. Red wine (we prefer Malbec)
Combine whiskey or bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a glass filled with ice. Slowly pour the red wine over the top of the drink and enjoy!
